Anger in the Reward System on Progstravaganza progressive rock & metal compilation

Anger in the Reward System

Anger In The Reward System is a Fusion Rock band from Aubagne, a town in southern France. Formed by five members with various influences, this band cooks music with electronics and acoustics.

Born from two Progressive Rock bands, Anger In The Reward System always sought to stand out from this style’s established musical formalism. Into a more song-oriented sound, these merry men blend the main musical streams that make sense to their ears : Rock, Jazz, Electro, Metal and American Minimalism.

Through lyrics, the band deals with thematics that are dear to its members, such as the ecological threat and geopolitical issues, colored variations of the human states of mind, complexity in relationships, with a global tone of tongue-in-cheek humor and pounds of cynism!

The band has toured South America and Europe, and their albums have been published in Europe, United States, and Japan. In 2009 their second album, “In Sudden Walks” was nominated for Best Foreign Record in the Italian Prog Awards and the band was invited to open the 11th Progressive Rock Festival Crescendo in France.

Giuseppe Rotunno started playing piano at school at the age of six. His music teacher (and pianist)  realized he had talent, and gave him private lessons of classical piano for eight years. Although he was achieving good results, Giuseppe felt (erroneously) classical music was not his musical genre, so he stopped playing piano and started learning how to play guitar as an autodidact. In this period he got close to rock, but his “classical vein” kept reemerging until he listened to “Firth of Fifth” by Genesis, and fell in love with progressive rock. Genesis, ELP, King Crimson, Rush, Dream Theatre, Elton John, Gentle Giant, Kansas became his preferred bands, and gave him a lot of inspiration. In May he released his debut single, Aequilibrium, but his mind is full of creative progressive ideas waiting to be transformed in shining and intense instrumental prog tracks.
