Aprilmist are a band from Kansas City, MO that plays a progressive form of cascadian black metal and this is a review of their 2017 second EP release “Remembrance.”
Melodic guitar leads start off the EP along with all of the musical instruments having a very powerful sound to them while the vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams and when the music speeds up a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats can be heard which also gives these two songs more of a raw feeling.
Throughout “Remembrance” you are faced with a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while the riffs also bring in a great amount of melody giving the songs more of a progressive feeling.
Aprilmist created a recording that remains true to the progressive black metal sound while also having the raw, epic and melodic moments. The production by Bret Liber sounds very professional too.
If you are a fan of progressive, melodic and cascadian black metal, you should give this one a chance.
